These are the oldest recordings of saxophonist and composer Luc Houtkamp. Three tracks from the years 1972-1974, with musicians with whom he performed in the early years of his career. The oldest, was recorded at Psychopolis/de Vrije Academie, the art school in The Hague, where he studied between 1970-1974, and where he made his first musical contacts.
His fellow students, Tony van Campen and Hennie Kamphuizen can be heard on this and on the following track, that was recorded during the legendary ICES ’72 festival in London, on which he is also joined by french horn player Richard Anijs and drummer Sven Ake Johansson.
The last recording is from the summer of 1974, recorded a the jazz festival in Laren. Houtkamp had just started a duo with Johansson, that would be his first professional formation.
